BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 Gene Mutations: What to do now?

It sure is scary to hear you have a BRCA gene mutation as these gene mutations are associated with a higher risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Although these mutations increase your risk, this does not indicate that you will develop breast cancer or ovarian cancer. Below is a video of a brief explanation of the tumor suppressor gene, BRCA gene.
Those with a mutated BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene will not necessarily develop breast cancer, but they are five times more likely to develop breast cancer compared to women without this mutation. As mentioned in previous posts, although breast cancer involves multifactorial inheritance, it is mostly affected by environmental factors. So please keep in mind to not stress or freak out if you discover that you have a BRCA gene mutation. Below is a video on a guided list of things to do if you discover you have a BRCA gene mutation.
