What are the Signs and Symptoms of Breast Cancer?

We know breast cancer is located in the breast region, but what are some signs and symptoms to be on the look-out when conducting a breast self-examination? As you may know, there are various signs and symptoms associated with breast cancer. However, just because you may experience one of these signs or symptoms does not indicate that you have breast cancer. In fact, many of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer are associated with other illnesses or irritations. We will discuss these differentials of breast cancer in another blog post.


Although the most commonly known sign and symptom of breast cancer is a breast lump, some additional signs and symptoms are swelling, tenderness, irritation, itching, dimpling (depression in the breast), pain, nipple retraction, redness, and nipple discharge.
